Inductive Bible Study
For the last few weeks we have been doing a small Bible study called Lord, Teach Me to Study the Bible in 28 Days by Kay Arthur.
I’m afraid I am a slow learner and it will take me longer than the anticipated 38 days. None the less I am learning from stories I thought I already knew! I’m impressed. For those who don’t know me well I went to parochial day school through eight grade. We knew our Bibles quite well. Then, I had several rather wild years when I ignored the Bible. When I came back I spent a good deal of time studying it.
So that’s where the problem lies. When you feel like you already know it you skim over it rather than s-lo-w d-o-w-n to actually read it. I walk fast, talk fast, think fast and (you guessed it) read fast.
The underlining, highlighting and re-reading forces me to slow down. I like it. And my Bible is becoming pretty. More importantly it is becoming familiar.
You are welcome to join us. Come every Tuesday or just the weeks you can make it. Come early or late: we are all real busy so we understand. We don’t want you to miss out.
